Upper Cervical Anatomy in the Sistine Chapel

After more than 500 years, researchers have discovered that Michelangelo hid anatomical artwork within “The Separation of Light from Darkness“ panel.

According to Suk and Rafael Tamargo (experts in neuroanatomy at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine), Michelangelo painted “a precise depiction of the human spinal cord and brain stem.”

In this article, Scientific American asks the question: “What was Michelangelo saying by constructing the voice box of God out of the brain stem of man?”

According to pastor James Tomasi, an East Indian sect known as the Fakkirs refers to the brainstem area as “The Mouth of God.” I found this interesting because Upper Cervical chiropractors have long felt that pressure from an atlas/axis misalignment can disrupt vital impulses from the brain as they travel to and from the body.

It appears that Michelangelo knew a thing or two about the sanctity of this region of the body as well.
