Where is Your Health Headed?

Take a moment and ask yourself this question…

“Am I healthier today than I was 10 years ago?”

While formulating your answer, here are some things to consider…

  • Is your quality of sleep better or worse?
  • How do your energy levels today compare to ten years ago?
  • Do you get sick more often or less?
  • Has your list of medications increased or decreased?
  • Do you wake up feeling pep or pain?
  • Are you drinking more alcohol or less?
  • If you’re a smoker, are you smoking fewer cigarettes, or more?
  • Have you lost a few pounds, or has your weight increased?

How easy is it for us to take good health for granted? I wish it weren’t so, but no one will ever care more about your health than the person looking back at you in the mirror.

Believe it or not, there are billionaires alive today who would give their wealth away in a snap to regain the health they’ve lost. In the end, is working yourself sick really worth it?

How often does a person’s moment of revelation and sudden insight come after it’s too late? In “To Die of Having Lived” neurosurgeon Dr. Richard Rapport said, “Doctors don’t cure much; they only delay things … If you hope for a miracle, look now, because one isn’t likely to find you when you’re on a ventilator in the CCU.”

Yesterday, Steve Keating tweeted: “Imagine your world without the people you took for granted today. You might want to work on that tomorrow.” If your health is the thing you’re taking for granted, that might be something you need to work on starting right now.
