While those words may sound like a magic spell from the Harry Potter movie, it’s actually a Latin phrase that a veteran chiropractor once wrote inside the cover of one of my textbooks. With a confused look, I remember saying, “I have absolutely no idea what this means! I’m not even sure what language that is…”

His response was simple: “Look it up. That way you’ll never forget it.”

And so I did… The translation: “The effect ceases when the cause is removed.”

He was right – I’ve never forgotten, because it’s more than just a statement; it’s a philosophy. It epitomizes the true purpose of any doctor.
