In this 5-minute video clip, Tom Daschle discusses the importance of healthcare reform. He cites an interesting statistic – that over 100,000 people die per year in the US from medical error.
He equates this number to one full 747-airliner crashing every day for a year. In this comparison, he astutely points out that when just one airplane crashes, the NTSB arrives within hours to begin accessing what went wrong and why in order to prevent it from ever happening again… but in health care, nothing like that happens.
