I’ve elected to give Stephen Colbert the “Dr. Tanase Bump” after watching a recent episode of the Colbert Report. Stephen dedicated a portion of the segment entitled “Cheating Death” to spinal health by sharing the results of a new research study.
According to scientists from the University of Rochester Medical Center, blue M&M’s mend spinal injuries in rats. The coloring, “Brilliant Blue G,” blocks a chemical that kills healthy spinal cord cells.
Colbert noted, “One side effect of the treatment is that it temporarily turns your skin bright blue… as with this rat, seen here resting comfortably after a scientist broke its spine.” He satirically added, “A healthy spine is a great consolation when you contract Type-II Diabetes.”
The segment ended with a special thanks to Prescott Pharmaceuticals and their motto, “If you’ve got a problem, we’ve got a pill. If you don’t have a problem, we have a pill for that too!”
